We believe people should be empowered to guide their own behavioral health. In fact our name was inspired by a long-time patient of our founder, Dr. Chip Benight, who envisioned a “blue sun” as a soothing, healing image to help her on her road to trauma recovery and better overall well-being. But in astrological terms, a blue sun is also known as a blue giant and is only a short part of the life journey of a star. We believe our support and recovery tools can help people achieve that same end – surviving and recovering from traumatic events as quickly as possible leading to a new stage in their life journey.

Our vision is to help people who experience trauma with a
program that both motivates and empowers them to guide
their own recovery.

History

In 2006, a team of visionary leaders established BlueSun, Inc. to commercialize web-based behavioral health products developed at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Under the leadership of Dr. Charles C. “Chip” Benight, a Psychology Professor at CU-Colorado Springs and co-founder of BlueSun, the university’s behavioral health team has been working for more than five years to develop web-based tools that improve human well-being by empowering individuals, families, organizations and communities to overcome the effects of traumatic events. BlueSun, Inc. holds an exclusive license from the University Technology Corporation, an affiliate of the University of Colorado, for this technology.
